Who is telling you that it is not allowed? What a nonsense, just create the channel and be done with it :) (i created #osm-at:matrix.org and bridged it with IRC as well, there are quite some channels out there). Just to clarify: If the IRC Admin does not allow it, its another thing, you have to sette it yourself. Negreheb) 10:44, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

This comment is re a recent edit on this page, https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Matrix&type=revision&diff=2164731&oldid=2164697 , not about whether or not you are allowed to create the channel itself.
