What about adding a link to the amenity tag?

-- thmsslg 13:37, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

The link to the tool is broken (404). New users (like, errr... me) are stuck at this point on how to contribute POIs to OSM.

amenity=fuel

I was thinking, should there be a POI for gas stations? It is at least interesting when planning a route from time to time. Kind regards a newbie.

OSM Map On Garmin/Using POIs from OSM along with Garmin Maps#Why would I want to mix commercially supplied maps with POIs from OSM.3F

How to download OSM POI of selected categories (tags) and square coordinates for use on a garmin satnav ? Thanks.

Nodes vs. outlines as POIs

There should be a section directing mappers to use outlines (where applicable), nodes or both when creating POIs.

Yes why not but this page seems to be abandoned? --!i! This user is member of the wiki team of OSM 19:00, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Have added mention of nodes vs areas. Page might need a complete overhaul though. --EdLoach 07:38, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Cleanup Request

I've flagged this for cleanup as it seems quite outdated, but I didn't feel {{OutOfDate}} was quite appropriate, and for people wanting to know what POIs are and how to add them this will probably be where a search will bring them. --EdLoach 07:42, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

I rewrote the page to introduce it as more of a definition of "POI" -- Harry Wood 10:51, 6 July 2011 (BST)
I think it could feel a little less like an opinion. I will take a crack at refactoring. Arlo James Barnes (talk) 01:05, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
