Proposal talk:Bus Sluice

This seems far better represented by a node (as proposed) than by mucking around making lots of segments. Morwen 11:56, 29 March 2007 (BST)

I'd highly recommend not making multiple ways. This should be a feature similar to a bridge (so it could go on a node, or as a way if the sluice is longer) --Hawke 19:38, 11 June 2007 (BST)

I agree with above comments. Can we have a more general 'Plug' feature that can be added to an intermediate node on a highway, or, in the case of a Plug at the start of a road leading away from the Junction, on a very short Segment. For example Plug=FootBikeOnly (probably achieved with suitable narrowing which can be stated in supplementary 'width' tag on the point), Plug= NoCars (possibly a legal restriction only with signs, or in this case a physical change to the road surface). It should also be possibly to attach a width restriction or a height restriction to a point as well. The renderer would then need to ensure that the plug was visible at appropriate scales possibly by introducing a short section of cycleway or whatever. I find I am currently tempted to make plugs linear and long enough to be noticable rather than modeling their true physical size Peter Miller 6:15, 12 June 2007 (BST)

Peter, can your "plug=" idea be done simply by using access tags? (i.e. access=no bus=yes for the bus sluice, access=no foot=yes bicycle=yes for your FootBikeOnly plug) See also Proposed features/barriers, which seems like a better term than plug. --Hawke 17:35, 14 June 2007 (BST)

What's wrong with "motorcar=no;bus=yes"? Maybe we should extend Map_Features#Restrictions to cover nodes, though. -- 3247 16:50, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Maybe this could be moved to proposed Proposed features/barriers tag? Osm@floris.nu 21:29, 1 April 2008 (BST)
