I see no good reason to use it over Proposed features/waiting area. Why not just amenity=waiting_area + waiting_area=room? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:47, 13 June 2018 (UTC)

The difference is that a room is a closed space, in the case of a waiting room dedicated to waiting (monofunctional), a waiting area is part of a bigger space with typically multiple functions (e.g. used for waiting and boarding). Edge cases might be "semi-open" spaces, e.g. waiting rooms/areas that are separated with light walls from the rest of the space, I am tending to waiting_area for these, separations could be micromapped. --Dieterdreist (talk) 14:40, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
A room is an interior space, tag indoor=room with amenity=waiting_area might be better??? Should be a way of coordinting these things! Warin61 (talk) 22:40, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
