Clearer listing

As mobile devices are more important as time goes by, I would propose to reorder the entries. Currently it's not that easy to find the mobile operating system, as many many platforms with no actual content are shown. I would propose to reformat it and just use two categories:

Platforms:

  • Android
  • iPhone / iPad
  • Microsoft Mobile
  • Blackberry

Others:

  • <list all others here - most of them are obscure or not really adopted by many people>

This is just a suggestion - if there are some feedback, please let me know - otherwise I might reformat that page somewhen in the future

Yeah I agree. I'd say we should be highlighting the top three or four OS/platforms by market share. It's not free and open and idealistic but it's a fact of life that the vast majority of people are coming here looking for iOS & Android information. ...cue debate
But a change I will make immediately actually, is to drop all the red links off this page. Proponents of these more exotic OS's/platforms can re-add them to the list here, if and when they can be bothered to create wiki page about them :-) That should immediately make the page a bit clearer.

Sorry, I've edited this page.

Alpenvereinaktiv is an OSM client for Wear OS. Initially, I thought I couldn't edit the page and that someone else would review and correct it. However, I was able to edit the page myself and made it publicly available. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dvoracek (talkcontribs) 02:01, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Dvoracek: The page Software/Mobile is an overview of OS platforms. It is not the right place to list or link single apps. You might add the app to the tables on wear OS and Android instead. --Chris2map (talk) 17:52, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome to try it yourself. If you need help with it, feel free to ask for. --Chris2map (talk) 17:56, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
