The guide seems to be mostly made for initially tagging using JOSM (which I don't use).

I don't think it's bad practice to have the number of the main address on the building in addition to the entrance node. One should bear in mind that OSM includes house numbers present on the ground, but missing in GWR/RegBL. These may not be deleted. Also street names present in GWR/RegBL may not be the ones signed on the ground. Avoid blindly overwriting merely because it's considered official in Neuchâtel and has a ref:ESID=*.

In terms of the tagging result, is there a reason why it doesn't add ref:EGID=* to buildings? @Spalinger 99 tabazan (talk) 09:13, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedbackǃ Yes: it is mainly for initial import, only for JOSM unfortunately and filling missing addresses, not a universal “always map this way” style guide. Day-to-day mapping and already well-mapped areas should keep local practice. Dual tagging building + entrance is fine as well, especially if not imported - just not covered in this guide.

Fully agree: numbers that exist on the ground (or were carefully mapped) but are missing in GWR/RegBL must not be deleted. Conflation should add or correct, not wipe local data.

If you have concrete Neuchâtel examples where overwriting happened (changeset or object links), please share them — I will fix those.

In GWR/RegBL, addresses are located at entrances, not streets or buildings as such. The import uses Simon Poole’s address extracts (qa.poole.ch) and, as far as I know, do not include EGID for building areas. So the guide does not add ref:EGID — that belongs on building=* in a separate (?) building workflow or fully manual edits, not on address nodes. If they happen to be/are placed both on a building area, it would be a useful additionǃ
