An emergency service may include those ubiquitous services such as Fire, Ambulance and Police, but often a government authority may establish another emergency service for civil defence.

Examples may be the German Technisches Hilfswerk or the Australian State Emergency Service.

> We already have tags for the Fire, Ambulance, and Police emergency services, I don't see the need to introduce a new tag overlapping them. We still need something which covers disaster response (semi) emergencies though, would emergency=disaster_response be better? Aharvey (talk) 12:45, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

There is a proposal for a world wide uniformly tagging of organisations like the German THW or the Austrailian SES. A lot of the discussion about this can be found in the forum. Feel free to participate. For establishing a standard that works all around the world we need input from people from all around the world. --Os-emmer (talk) 14:23, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
