Attached or not attached to node?

I wasn't able to find an answer, but is it better to create a mural node detached from an area? Or is it better to make the mural node a part of the area? To me, it makes sense to attach the node to the area because it is a part of the wall of the building. However, I wanted to see what others had to think. InsecurePeanut 07:23, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Ways

I just updated the article to clarify that this tag can be used on an unclosed way. It stands to reason that a wall mural can be represented by a linear feature just like an advertising=billboard, advertising=wall_painting, or, well, barrier=wall. Indeed, unclosed ways currently outnumber areas, which are already documented as being allowed, by more than 3 to 1. [1] – Minh Nguyễn 💬 20:56, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Use on relations

Not changing the page or using this tag on relations yet, but there are cases when there are multiple murals at a location, forming a single artwork that cannot be depicted with a single feature - for example, murals on the opposing streets of a walkway. They would have the same link to the Wikimedia Commons and other common features. That seems like a good usecase for merging them in a relation - or is there a good way to map this without replicating all tags on all nodes/ways? --Richlv (talk) 12:28, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
