One feature, one OSM element
This wiki suggests to add the place=* tag also on the boundary. But this tag is already used on the node label. This way we have the tag repeated on both the boundary and the node. I don't think is correct to suggest adding it to the relation, since the relation is about the boundaries, and only the node about the place --Ivanbranco (talk) 13:15, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- It's quite common to have tags repeated on boundary relations and label nodes. In this case there are two features that both need an element: the boundary of the place, represented by the boundary relation, and a central spot in the place, represented by the 'place node'. - Although common, it's not something everyone likes, and it seems that not everyone adds the place on the boundary area, even in the examples linked in the
place=*page: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1MV3 - For example see r8398119 and n158801321 and note the relation does not have aplace=*. I think the Wiki should document both practices and state that the place is optional on the relation. - -- SafwatHalaby (talk) 12:44, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
