Entire pizza VS pizza slice

I'm a bit surprised that we have no tagging to distinguish a place offering a slice of pizza as main product, versus a restaurant offering a whole pizza as main product.

I wonder if we could find a tag to map this difference. --Valeriobozz (talk) 18:50, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

A universal attribute serving_size=* could be invented. Or size=* can be reused, which can be some *:size=* if confusing with shop=* area. Could further be serving_portion=* / portion=* to be clear on total size vs cuts, eg there can be a slice of a big pizza vs a whole small pizza. Kovposch (talk) 07:21, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pizza "height"

I'm a bit surprised we have no way to distinguish the pizza "height". In Italy it's usually "slim" (few millimeters, Napoli), "medium" (still some millimeters), or "hight" (also 1 or 2 centimeters or stuff like that, e.g. Rome). Sometime a restaurant offers 2-3 choices of height. Sometime a restaurant is stuck on "high" pizza (2-3 centimeters).

I'm particularly interested in mapping a particular restaurant which is stuck on "hight height" pizza, which I totally dislike :) :) And I would like to exclude these places with Overpass Turbo. --Valeriobozz (talk) 18:50, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Caveat that OSM isn't suitable to list out all menu choices. There will be disagreements on whether it should be included.
In general, food:pizza=* is a mess from how food:*=* mixed up different aspects. pizza:style=* might be usable for Italian vs American, and regions. That's more neutral than "slim" vs "high". Kovposch (talk) 07:46, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
