Strikethrough in building=yes

Why does

is strikethrough'ed in the 'Useful additional tags' section? Should we don't use it? --Dhiegov (talk) 01:02, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Mention areas encouraged too

The base might be massive. Please don't only say to use a single point. Jidanni (talk) 02:52, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

Steam, smoke, CO2, flame

Mention how to tag the vapor emitted, if any. Jidanni (talk) 12:46, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

Chimneys that aren't tall enough

Chimneys might not reach the height requirements mentioned, but still be valuable landmarks. Mention when and how to perhaps use e.g., building:part=* instead.

Ralph (on the phone, looking out his binoculars):
"Are you talking about the building to the left of the chimney, or the one on the right?"
Laura (back in the office):
"There is no chimney on the map. It wasn't tall enough. So I didn't bother mapping it. So, well, I don't know the answer!"

Or perhaps just let renderers decide, depending on the height parameter, which chimneys they want to render. Just like it is OK to map all trees the mapper feels are worth being mapped. Jidanni (talk) 14:22, 22 November 2022 (UTC)

Better called "tall chimney"

It seems this tag would have better been called "tall chimney" or "very tall chimney". Why? because the average user, when seeing a chimney, will find this tag in his editor, never dreaming that some (shorter) chimneys aren't welcome, until years later someone alerts him that the 547 chimneys he already put on the map aren't tall enough.
