timber_yard

Maybe wood is redundant when we have timber_yard? -- User:Messpert 09:41, 31 July 2010‎

for me it seems timber_yard doesn't exists any longer..^^ is subfeature of shop=trade -> trade=timber_yard --DerKuchen 11:20, 25 August 2010 (BST)

restaurant_supply

Would a shop that sells disposable items for restaurants be classified as a trade shop? Ejegg (talk) 04:18, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

It likely would, but limiting it to "restaurant" in the tag would make some people reluctant to use it. Perhaps catering_supplies (to be consistent with other tags, already documented)? I've documented it on the main page now. --Richlv (talk) 18:25, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

General Expansion

I'm currently detailing a trading/business park in my local area and it has become apparent that an expansion of the "recognised" trade= tags would be useful. I appreciate that OSM allows for user choice but it is always wise to have a uniform standard.

I would suggest, then, that trade suppliers in cleaning_supplies, engineering_supplies and tools be considered. I think several other discrete areas of trade supply could be identified not encompassed - even very loosely - by the currently documented/recognised trade= tags but which are prevalent in the trade/wholesale marketplace. I would thus like to open a discussion herein with a view to drawing up a shortlist of "essential" additional trade= tags to be put forward for formal adoption... --John Grubb (talk) 22:08, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
