Raised crossing

There are also raised crossings - two streets, and the whole crossing is raised, thus forming a "big table". I've tagged a few as traffic_calming=table on the crossing node. Does that sound good, or are there better ways to do it? --Richlv (talk) 12:17, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I've seen it being mapped like that. Alternatively the roads can be split and the raised sections can get traffic_calming=table, which is more informative. —M!dgard [ talk ] 13:31, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Tagging of ramps instead of a table

There are some situations where it makes sense to tag ramps instead of the table, for example:

1. The table is on a junction, but only some of the ways leading to the junction have a ramp up to the table.
2. The table is only a single ramp up when entering a dead-end street.
3. The table is very long.

In these cases each ramp can be tagged with traffic_calming=ramp and incline=up/down (depending on the direction of the way). After looking at several instances on the map, my feeling is: Whenever you feel tempted to add a direction=* tag to a traffic table, then you probably need to split it up into ramps. There might be only one exception: The traffic table covers only half of the street and indeed only affects one direction of travel. Biff (talk) 23:45, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
