Coastline with Mangroves

What is the right way to draw the coastline at mangroves - at the seaward or the landward side? According to the rules for coastlines they should be drawn at the mean high water springs line. As mangroves are a tidal zone, I'd say the coastline should be drawn at the landward end of the mangrove. As I've seen coastlines that are drawn seawards, I'd like to know about potential other opinions. -- DerGuteMercator (talk) 12:06, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

I agree with you that ideally the coastline should be drawn at the landward edge of the mangrove area. The only problem with this is that it is not often possible to tell from imagery where the landward edge of the mangrove area actually is. This may well be the reason why some coastline ways are drawn at the boundary of mangrove and openwater since this is much easier to determine. Dmgroom (talk)
