PHP vs rewrite

Is it still planned to use an Apache rewrite rule? It seems to me that the current version ("Dev FS" on the map browser) uses a PHP script to return the tile, which I assume to be drastically less efficient than having apache return the file directly, especially if the machine is busy. But I may be wrong in assuming that a PHP script is currently used, and I may also be wrong in assuming that it wastes resources compared to mod_rewrite. --Frederik Ramm 00:51, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Using Filesystem for Tiles

Just a little hint, do you know the filesystem option "dir_index" (suppose you are using ext3...)? With this option lookup of directorys is really fast! --falstaff 18:55, 27 Octover 2007 (UTC)
