So much change that you need a new template
Hi @RScholar:
You've done a lot of change in this template, thanks you ! But you change it so much that he has nothing to do with the original template. Please could you create a new template ?
Have a good day ! — Koreller (talk) 08:50, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
@RScholar: Also, hi from me! Thanks for your changes to include dark mode compatibility! However, the changes also result in overlapping boxes e.g. on Use OpenStreetMap. --Chris2map (talk) 16:06, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
@RScholar: I have reverted the template to its previous version. If you wish to use the modification you made I invite you to create a new template. If you want to participate in the improvement of this template, I ask you to talk about it here, and exchange with the community to, then, be able to make modifications to this template — Koreller (talk) 16:42, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Koreller and Chris2map: Sorry for any disruption, I should've looked more closely at the list of transcluding pages before starting work. However the page that you reference, Use OpenStreetMap, seems like the natural focus of any immediate work going forward, not this template. It is most definitely not dark mode compliant, in fact, I can barely read the text in the boxes. Has anybody discussed how best to upgrade it so that it's more functional? I can think of several ways to structure it that would be more effective than this template. RScholar (talk) 07:19, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- @RScholar: You can improve the template to add a dark mode compatibility but please don't change the bright mode aspect.
BTW on the French Wikipedia the template is already adapted to dark mode, see how they did it : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod%C3%A8le:D%C3%A9but_encart_color%C3%A9 — Koreller (talk) 14:13, 2 June 2025 (UTC)- They are using extension TemplateStyles and the "Codex" styling from Mediawiki with a predefined colour set (https://doc.wikimedia.org/codex/v0.7.0/design-tokens/color.html). – I've just added colours for dark mode using "light-dark" CSS syntax to the template. Please have a look if it works for you. Feel free to ask, alter, undo, or any. --Chris2map (talk) 16:36, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
