I am Amos Katompa, an active contributor to OpenStreetMap since 2018 and recognized as a “Great Mapper” for my commitment and the quality of my contributions. I have made over 1.2 million edits in 397 days of mapping, mainly in Congo-Kinshasa, while contributing to over 35 other countries. My expertise covers local geographic data, infrastructure, roads, buildings, and administrative boundaries, and I use various tools such as JOSM, StreetComplete, RapiD, OsmAnd, and iD. I have also participated in numerous humanitarian and community projects, including Missing Maps and HOT, to improve mapping in under-mapped areas.

At the same time, I am an assistant at the University of Kinshasa, where I train and mentor students in the use of open source geospatial and mapping tools. My work contributes concretely to urban planning, humanitarian response, and community development, and I am proud to be part of a global community that transforms open data into real impact.
