In OSM since 2012, started mapping more consistently since covid-era, when I joined the MissingMaps London mapathons on a regular basis.
Starting from 2023, I have worked with HOT - Humanitarian OpensStreetMap Team - on assessing from an academic point of view the performance of their mapping tool fAIr, also in collaboration with HeiGIT.
I have presented my research on this topic at State of The Map 2024 in Nairobi, at the GeoMob event in the occasion of OSM’s 20th anniversary in London and at State of The Map Europe 2025 in Dundee.
The slides from my talks are available on Github
I am also one of the main people behind MapTCHA, a cool project that hopefully one day will take off.
In the past I have been involved with the Osgeo and Foss4G community, mainly in Italy, and part of what I have done during my PhD is been incorporated as an add-on in Grass GIS.
