Hi! I'm thomasafonsito12, an OpenStreetMap contributor from Portugal.
I started mapping in October 2025 after noticing that many places around me were missing or outdated. Since then I've mainly focused on improving the map in northern Portugal, especially around Santo Tirso and neighbouring municipalities.
I enjoy mapping all kinds of features, from roads, buildings and addresses to recycling facilities, power infrastructure, public transport and land use. Besides adding new data, I also spend time fixing existing information, resolving QA issues and occasionally reverting incorrect edits.
Outside OpenStreetMap, I'm interested in 3D visualisation. I often use OSM data in personal 3D projects, creating realistic environments and testing how real-world geographic data can be represented in virtual worlds. I also like experimenting with different editors and tools to see what works best for each task.
Some of my mapping projects include improving recycling container coverage, updating road networks, refining address data and contributing to better routing by correcting roads and restrictions.
OpenStreetMap is a project I contribute to because I enjoy leaving the map a little better than I found it.
