Seit Deiner Änderung in DE:Tag:highway=trunk wird dort nicht mehr der richtige englische Artikel verlinkt. Gruß -- Tirkon 15:46, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Danke. It should be OK now. --EdLoach 10:09, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. Sorry, I did not take notice, that you are native English. -- Tirkon 14:01, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

milk dispenser

Hi, just for your information. I updated the milk dispenser page to make it better compatible with other similar features. So please avoid using the old tag and use amenity=vending_machine , vending=milk , drink:milk-raw=yes from now on. Thanks. cu AssetBurned 01:37, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Maths?

Hey Ed,

your change seems quite broken. The majority must be calculated over total votes (30), not over approving ones (20) :). Would you please revert it? Thanks --Hanska 09:59, 26 April 2011 (BST)

Just to remind myself, answer made on Hanska's talk page --EdLoach 13:24, 26 April 2011 (BST)

about abusefilter extention

You can auto-block userpage spam : http://beta.wikiversity.org/wiki/Special:AbuseFilter/2. But need to install abusefilter extention. Crochet.david (talk) 08:50, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks. I don't have those sort of privileges but passed the message on to someone who does for them to consider. --EdLoach (talk) 09:54, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
Added and live. Working well so far --Firefishy (talk) 11:26, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Translation

thanks for your connection

translating OSM wiki is really hard specially for RTL languages. Is there any WYSIWYG editor for translating? and how can I add Persian "Image of the Week", "News" and "meta info" templates?

Page rename

Hello Ed,

Could you rename the page Taglocator to OpenPoiMap? The site name has changed and the page OpenPoiMap has more than one edit. The RedBurn (talk) 11:23, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Done --EdLoach (talk) 14:06, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! The RedBurn (talk) 16:10, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Track storing in OSMTracker (Android)

Hi Ed,

your additional note on OSMTracker (Android) page about how is track stored in a file looks an instructive conclusion. But the link to the source code is broken now, because the structure of the git repository changed in the recent years. I already updated the other outdated or broken links. You may also want to update to https://github.com/labexp/osmtracker-android/blob/master/app/src/main/java/net/osmtracker/db/TrackContentProvider.java. --Nslxndr (talk) 19:47, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Done, thanks. I really don't remember investigating it last time. --EdLoach (talk) 08:51, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Missing file information

Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.

Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.

Are you the author of image File:AbbeyHotel18thTee.jpg ?

Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?

Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ".

Doing this would be already very useful.

Licensing - photos

In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?

In case where it is a photo you (except relatively rare cases) author can make it available under a specific free license.

Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?

Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?

If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.

You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.

Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified March 2022}} from the file page.

Licensing - other images

If it is not a photo situation gets a bit more complicated.

See Drafts/Media file license chart that may help.

note: if you took screenshot of program made by someone else, screenshot of OSM editor with aerial imagery: then licensing of that elements also matter and you are not a sole author.

note: If you downloaded image made by someone else then you are NOT the author.

Note that in cases where photo is a screenshot of some software interface: usually it is needed to handle also copyright of software itself.

Note that in cases where aerial imagery is present: also licensing of an aerial imagery matter.

Help

Feel free to ask for help if you need it - you can do it for example by asking on Talk:Wiki: new topic.

Please ask there if you are not sure what is the proper next step. Especially when you are uploading files that are not your own work or are derivative work (screenshots, composition of images, using aerial imagery etc).

If you are interested in wider discussion about handling licencing at OSM Wiki, see this thread.

--Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:39, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

All the images you had in the same category page as mentioned above have now had licence templates added. The cake diagram of Lincoln I think had to be the one I chose as it was based on the old cc-by-sa images - screenshot then draw over the top). Best wishes -- EdLoach (talk) 15:20, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for handling all of them! Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 15:23, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

Deleting images

"Deleting image meant no longer displayed in wiki history view"

I would not worry about it too much: deleting has big benefits, as OSM Wiki editors are incapable of actually handling images stored here already. So ideally we would delete as much as possible of them to be able to handle what is happening Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 11:00, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Quick comment just to let you know that I'm not ignoring your latest two requests above. I have a folder on my hard disk called Pictures\OSM\roadsigns which contains 15 different road sign images all from the same two consecutive dates in March 2009. I am almost 100% positive that these were cut out of photos that I took originally but to date I've only managed to identify the source photo for seven of them, none of which are the latest two you've asked about above. I'll continue searching as time permits. -- EdLoach (talk) 08:01, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
