Proposal:Alternate_addresses

Thanks for bringing this up. A while back I updated Key:addr2:*. Personally, I think it's mostly useful for POIs rather than buildings (where I'd use nodes and possibly the main address on the building), but this is somehow conditioned by buildings in my mapping region having a main address (meaning main entrance). --99 tabazan (talk) 10:05, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

I think I'll add a note that the examples are sort of region specific, as I'm finding the way addresses are tagged can differ pretty significantly between regions. The main thing with the proposal is just getting the tagging down so that software like Nominatim and Android apps can add support for these extra addresses.

If you can find any examples of the style you're thinking of, are you able drop a link to them / add them? I did notice some countries have addresses tagged on building entrances, but I'm keen to hear more on how you think this proposal would be used on POIs? Joel Koen (talk) 12:23, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
