Tagging of pedestrian areas

There are two methods to mark pedestrian ways as areas: highway=pedestrian + area=yes or area:highway=pedestrian. You said in this change that they should be used depending on the size. Is there any reason for this? I meant, why not use them indistinctly or always one of them? Where is the size limit to use one or another. Is this discussed any where? Best regards, Javiersanp (talk) 12:42, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

It was about difference between highway=footway and highway=pedestiran, on areas it works the same as on lines - way through usual footway is highway=footway and way through named square or pedestrian zone is highway=pedestrian. Combination of highway=* + area=yes is rendered on default style, but it is incorrect in opinion of some users (problems with some routing services etc.), that's where area:highway=* idea came from. Bleachers Talk page

Hi, curious why you deleted a bunch of conversation on the leisure=bleachers Talk page? Thanks, Neuhausr (talk) 19:55, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi, it wasn't intentionally, I don't know why it vanished, because I have only added my response. Anyway, feel free to repair the page. Meanwhile, I will change boxes in bleachers and grandstand documentations to "seating". Tomasz W (talk) 05:56, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
Figured it might be something like that. No worries! :) --Neuhausr (talk) 17:23, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
