YouthMappers UMSA-Bolivia is the only definitive and inclusive representative group for YouthMappers at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés.

The purpose of YouthMappers UMSA-Bolivia will grant students the opportunity to improve their skills in the field of cartography and create data and perform geographic analysis using open data that address locally defined development challenges around the world. Our vision is to cultivate a generation of young people to become leaders in creating resilient communities and empower them to define their world by mapping.

The organization will strive to exchange and collaborate with other YouthMappers chapters and youth groups around the world, while also offering itself as a resource and service for the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés and student organizations and our local community to add value through mapping.

YouthMappers UMSA-Bolivia is affiliated with the global network of YouthMappers: www.youthmappers.org.

Mission

YouthMappers is an international network of university-student-led chapters. We organize, collaborate, and implement mapping activities that respond to actual development needs around the globe - creating and using geospatial data and information that is made publicly available through open platforms. We share experiences and results while learning, leading, and making a difference in the world. We also use differe tool that are related to the Science of Geography and we share knowledge with young students.

Vision

Cultivate a generation of young people to develop leadership ability and create resilient communities around the world. To empower youth to define and change their world by mapping it.

Membership

Any student currently enrolled at Universidad Mayor de San Andrés is eligible to become a member of theYouthMappers UMSA-Bolivia by registering an online form. There is no denied membership  based on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

Membership student may be enrollment as part of any Faculty of UMSA University and membership requirements are outlined in this document.

The members of the organization must be students currently enrolled and who have sent their application form application to become members, which must be previously approved by the YouthMappers UMSA-Bolivia chapter.

Meetings

General assemblies will be held at least once per semester. The dates of the meetings will be decided by the members and coordinators, and will be published at least three days before the event.

The Quorum will be composed of one third of the active members. All student members must be informed 7 days before any organization-wide election.

Main events

June 22 Fisrt meeting and presentation of advisers and coordination team YouthMapper UMSA- Bolivia.

June 29 Official launch of the chapter YouthMapper UMSA - Bolivia with authorities of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, students and advisers.

July 13 Patterns and levels of WEb GIS Aplications - Dr.Reda Alkot University of El Cairo - Egipt

Founding partners are Texas Tech University (TTU), The George Washington University (GWU), and West Virginia University (WVU). Arizona State University (ASU) serves as the lead fiscal administrative partner for the university consortium on behalf of YouthMappers.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) generously supports this program through a grant from the USAID GeoCenter. The grant is administered by Arizona State University (ASU) in collaboration with GWU and WVU.

YouthMappers has a number of MOUs expressing collaboration with other actors in this space, which encourages and defines joint action or access to resources, internships, or other benefits for students and faculty from partners.
