What's the plan? / Was ist geplant?

We're having an OSM hack weekend in Karlsruhe, Germany, on 18/19 September 2021.

Surely you have some unfinished OSM projects or some good ideas for new ones. Bring them with you to Karlsruhe. You will find people to discuss the details with you, or build something.

Am 18./19. September 2021 findet in Karlsruhe wieder ein OpenStreetMap-Hack-Weekend statt.

Sicherlich habt auch Ihr jede Menge angefangene aber noch nicht fertiggestellte OSM-Projekte. Oder Euch spukt schon länger etwas im Kopf herum, aber es ergab sich noch nie die Gelegenheit, das Projekt zu starten. Bringt Eure Ideen mit, Ihr findet sicherlich Unterstützung oder Leute, die die Details mit Euch ausdiskutieren. Spass am Entwickeln und Interesse an etwas OSM-Socializing reicht als Voraussetzung völlig aus :-)

Coronavirus

Please observe the following extra rules as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic: Only come to Karlsruhe if you are vaccinated against or recovered from the Coronavirus. Testing alone is not sufficient. We only allow up to 16 guests. We'll keep the windows open (tilted) so if it's cold, bring warm clothes. We will only consider local pubs/restaurants if we can sit outside; otherwise will order food to eat in. In addition, we will observe all official Coronavirus restrictions in effect in Baden-Württemberg at the time of the event. If you're from outside Germany, you'll have to observe any travel restrictions or quarantine rules in effect. If you book a hotel, flight, or train ride, try to make it refundable so that if we have to cancel the event you don't lose the money. Es gelten die folgenden besonderen Regeln wegen der Corona-Pandemie: Bitte kommt nur nach Karlsruhe, wenn ihr wirksam gegen Corona geimpft seid (d.h. wenn ihr die für Euren Impstoff vorgesehene Anzahl Impfungen erhalten habt und die letzte Impfung mindestens zwei Wochen her ist), oder wenn ihr genesen seid. Nur getestet reicht nicht. Wir beschränken die Anzahl der Gäste diesmal auf 16. Wir werden die ganze Zeit die Fenster gekippt haben, um für eine gute Durchlüftung zu sorgen. Wenn es kalt ist, zieht Euch entsprechend an. In Kneipen/Restaurants gehen wir nur, wenn wir draußen sitzen können. Ansonsten wird Essen ins Büro bestellt. Zusätzlich müssen wir natürlich alle in Baden-Württemberg zum Zeitpunkt des Hack-Weekends geltenden Bestimmungen einhalten. Für internationale Gäste kann es auch Reisebeschränkungen oder Quarantäneregeln geben. Bucht nach Möglichkeit Hotel und Zug so, dass ihr ohne großen Verlust stornieren könnt, falls wir die Veranstaltung absagen müssen.

Location / Der Ort

We meet at the Geofabrik office in Karlsruhe.
The tram station Europaplatz is the closest to the office.

Das Hack-Weekend findet in den Büroräumen der Geofabrik statt.
Die Straßenbahnhaltestelle Europaplatz ist vom Hauptbahnhof aus gut erreichbar und liegt relativ nahe am Geofabrik-Büro.

Food and drink / Essen und Trinken

Geofabrik provides snacks and beverages. In non-Corona times it's pizza for lunch and a nearby restaurant for dinner but we'll have to wait and see this time.

Die Geofabrik versorgt Euch mit Getränken und Knabberzeug. Normalerweise gibt es Mittagessen vom Pizzadienst und abends gehen wir in ein Restaurant in der Nähe - aber diesmal müssen wegen Corona eventuell improvisieren.

Results

Hartmut

• prepared for adding Olivers new "tree species" map style
• almost completed automated town hiking atlas booklet creation
  • fixed a problem with gpx file validation on the way, Ubuntu python3-gpxpy package did not accept GPX files generated by WayMarkedTrails site, more current gpxpy package installed via pip fixed this
• fixed several MapOSMatic web frontend and rendering problems:
  • uploaded attachments were no longer shown in request details after upload refactoring
  • render time output now uses relative time info in request details by default (e.g. "## minutes ago" instead of absolute timestamps (these are still available as mouseover tooltips though)
  • paper size in request details now shows actual paper size name, not just metric dimensions, where possible
  • Umap marker label texts were not shown in most cases
  • show named paper sizes in
  • vagrant test setup no longer uses osm2pgsql parallel indexing to prevent out-of-memory errors
  • Old pre-carto OSM Mapnik style works again

Oliver

• included recent version of OpenStreetMap-carto Mapnik style in "tree species" map mymapnik.rudzick.it
• published carto style files for "tree species" layers on Github for usage in other projects, e.g. in Hartmuts MyOSMatic
