Bahnpirat 08:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Daten an Bildern

Hi,

Power lines in Czech Republic

Hi,

i noticed that you created some power lines in the Czech Republic (and i noticed you superb power lines renders). I have some advices and questions (as i am mapping power lines in CR):

  • data sources (expect good old survey)
  • data organization - despite we have many power lines data in CR, there is no wikipage about them. Feel free to create one (WikiProject Czech Republic/power lines), i will contribute to it and we can discuss there any problems or related questions

--Jkjk 17:39, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

WHOOHOO! I'm very happy to hear this. So there are high resolution arial images and we are allowed to trace from them. Great! The picture of the power grid is also very usefull. I will create a page and a structure to map this. By the way, I try to create a comlex but easy to understand (unpossible!) mapping scheme (Power lines in OSM) and if you have ideas, what's missing or bad, please comment on the talk page. This link could be intresting: energy.freelayer.net is a maps of the german power grid. Some czech lines are also visible. If there is any OSM-geek in your contry intrested in power grid, feel free to contact me. One "problem" could be that 380 kV in Germany is known as 400 kV in Czech. 400 is correct by the way. --Bahnpirat 12:04, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

--Roald-linus 16:29, 20 June 2011 (BST)

Gerne! Immer her damit. --Bahnpirat 17:25, 20 June 2011 (BST)

Use of your power icons in JOSM

Hi,

We're linking to your icons in power presets of JOSM for quite some time now, but we never had your agreement to do so. The situation is described here:

Would it be OK for you to let us distribute your icons alongside JOSM code (GPL2+) ? Thanks, --Don-vip (talk) 01:26, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

2020 stBN powergensource burn.svg The icons you (the ticket) refer are uploaded by me. But as the description pages for this images note, they base on work from another user named Sergionaranja. You may ask him/her. I only added background color to distinguish different types of burning. --Bahnpirat (talk) 09:51, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
OK thanks for this fast answer ! :) --Don-vip (talk) 11:04, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Power networks/Germany/50Hertz

--Bahnpirat (talk) 19:28, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

HaptoRender - is there any available code?

I started a similar project and I am curious whatever there is any HaptoRender code that was published or can be published (to avoid writing the same from scratch, again) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 13:46, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

Line management proposal

Hi Bahnpirat, hope you're doing well. I saw you're testing a bit the tagging proposed on Proposed_features/Lines_management and it's great
Do you have any feedback on the tagging regarding situations you may know in Germany or Netherland?
We're still looking for examples pictures for line_management=loop and line_management=cross. You may have suitable pictures for those, don't you?
The vote will begin once the example voverage problem will be solved Fanfouer (talk) 15:23, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

cross (110kV line is hard to see, from 2009)
loop (loop on one side of the tower, so not exacly what you are looking for) more of the same situation: 42, 43, 44, 45, 46
--Bahnpirat (talk) 20:05, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
Hi and thank you Bahnpirat!
For crossing, that's the right case, but the picture may be unclear I'm affraid: Another line is seen on the foregroung and someone may think the crossing is about it. Such situations are hard to find in France too. May you have a more clear picture of that place please?
Regarding loop on the second collection you propose, that sounds more like line_management=split (approximately), because two incoming systems aren't linked (terminated circuit is eventually grounded on the tower it seems). This interesting situation has benefit to make me think about merging loops and branches. This would clearly make depicted situation as split since it won't be a branch, will you? Missing file information

Hello! And thanks for your upload - but some extra info is necessary.

Sorry for bothering you about this, but it is important to know source of the uploaded files.

Are you the author of image File:Power-PAP-z13.png ?

Or is it copied from some other place (which one?)?

Please, add this info to the file page - something like "I took this photo" or "downloaded from -website link-" or "I took this screeshot of program XYZ".

Doing this would be already very useful.

Licensing - photos

In case that you are the author of the image: Would you agree to open licensing of this image, allowing its use by anyone (similarly to your OSM edits)?

In case where it is a photo you (except relatively rare cases) author can make it available under a specific free license.

Would you be OK with CC0 (it allows use without attribution or any other requirement)?

Or do you prefer to require attribution and some other things using CC-BY-SA-4.0?

If you are the author: Please add {{CC0-self}} to the file page to publish the image under CC0 license.

You can also use {{CC-BY-SA-4.0-self}} to publish under CC-BY-SA-4.0 license.

Once you add missing data - please remove {{Unknown|subcategory=uploader notified March 2022}} from the file page.

Licensing - other images

If it is not a photo situation gets a bit more complicated.

See Drafts/Media file license chart that may help.

note: if you took screenshot of program made by someone else, screenshot of OSM editor with aerial imagery: then licensing of that elements also matter and you are not a sole author.

note: If you downloaded image made by someone else then you are NOT the author.

Note that in cases where photo is a screenshot of some software interface: usually it is needed to handle also copyright of software itself.

Note that in cases where aerial imagery is present: also licensing of an aerial imagery matter.

Help

Feel free to ask for help if you need it - you can do it for example by asking on Talk:Wiki: new topic.

Please ask there if you are not sure what is the proper next step. Especially when you are uploading files that are not your own work or are derivative work (screenshots, composition of images, using aerial imagery etc).

If you are interested in wider discussion about handling licencing at OSM Wiki, see this thread.
