Community Chat 10th December 16:00 – 17:00 (UTC)

https://osmcal.org/event/4214/

Attendees

  • Martin
  • Mateusz
  • Gregory

Notes

  • Improvement regarding relation editing in iD
    • implementation in progress:
      • reordered buttons to make more space for feature labels in relation membership editor
      • add visual indicator for when relation members are connected (important especially for route relations)
      • tagging schema defines allowed roles for different relation types
    • further ideas:
      • easily add/remove members from a relation: when relation is selected, press a modifier key and click on the features to add/remove
      • add buttons to automatically order members
      • validator: add checks for valid member roles
      • validator: add check for multipolygon topology check
      • better visual indicator to distinguish relations from each other when they have the same label, e.g. by automatically "color coding" them
      • be able to better edit large multipolygons / route relations
  • New way to deploy iD on osm.org
    • now via npm package
    • should be possible also to be used by other tools that include iD, such as the tasking manager
    • tasking manager: there is currently a bug making it unreliable to pass on extra hash parameters (e.g. disable_features or validationError params) to iD. Needs to be investigated before it can be used for actual projects

Community Chat 5th November 16:00 – 17:00 (UTC)

https://osmcal.org/event/4131/

Attendees

  • Martin
  • Gregory

Notes

  • iD version on task manager is sometimes a bit out of date from the main osm instance
    • work in progress to making it easier to deploy releases as embedded editors e.g. the OSM website or the tasking manager
  • validator warnings should guide users towards the best ways to fix them
  • locked fields in iD:
    • is that the best UI/UX to prevent mapping mistakes?
    • see e.g. https://github.com/openstreetmap/id/issues/6789
    • explain in more detail why the fields are locked
    • maybe relax the locking of fields/features depending on user experience?
    • similar example: coastline editing -> should some mapping operations be locked to not break them easily??
  • imagery offset
    • should the imagery offset be added as metadata to changesets?
    • in tasking manager: use API parameter to set the (starting/default) offset of an imagery
    • allow to set offset for manually entered layer in custom URL
