Proposal Population centers import

Introduction

Santiago city council opened in October 2017 a very complete cartographic data portal called http://xeoportal.santiagodecompostela.gal/(gl). There we can access multiple visors and basemaps, and also we can download data like population center names, trash bin locations, very accurate road and building drawings, urban planing, etc. on formats like .shp or .dwg . Also, we have avaliable multiple WMS, WMTS and TMS layers that are already being used by OSM mappers. On April 2020, lucumon got an [explicit authorization] that ables OSM to use their data. Considering that the data included in this portal is of admirable accuracy, the local community has determined that it would be interesting to import it to OSM.

Process

Since the vast majority of the data on the portal is downloadable in .shp, for small tasks we can import it in JOSM using OpenData plugin, and clean up the data so it's suitable for OSM. For larger data, QGIS may be necessary.
