The shortened name of the brand is similar to short_name=* in use. It is a common short version of an objects name.

Use for abbreviations only if the brand=* is typically referred to by it's abbreviation. If you know the full name use that for brand=* even if it not very commonly known.

Be careful. For example the accounting firm KPMG is not a short_name=* because it is the actual trading name of the company, despite being an abbreviation for their original name.

Examples

• The largest Danish scout association is the Det Danske Spejderkorps (The Danish Scout Corps). But no-one uses that name in full, they are referred to as DDS. So this should be filled out as brand = Det Danske Spejderkorps & brand_short = DDS.
