While normally the absence of a brand=* should suffice to indicate that a feature has no associated brand or franchise, some mappers and QA-tools prefer to mark this explicitly. Similar to noname=yes, the tag nobrand=yes is sometimes used to indicate this.

Possible tagging mistakes

The presence of nobrand=yes implies that there is no brand=* for this feature — these tags should never occur together on the same object. If nobrand=yes is used together with brand=*, one of those tags is erroneous.
