The physical mounting of the post box for types of postbox that can be mounted in more than one way.

This key does not apply to post_box:type=pillar boxes because they are always free standing

Values for 'wall' type

Value Description Example picture
building The box is mounted within the external wall of a building, and can be regarded as the default value in absence of the tag for 'wall' type boxes.

Values for 'lamp' type

pier The box sits on top of a post which is mounted in the ground, the usual way of mounting and therefore can be regarded as the default value in the absence of this tag for 'lamp' boxes.Note that post_box:mounting=pole (q.v.) is probably a synonym.
