Describes the univocal code assigned to an Italian hiking route. It consists of 11 alphanumerics with the following meaning:

Position 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Group A B C D E F G
1 alphabetic character indicating the Italian region of the footpath (see table below to know which character is associated to which region)
2 alphabetic characters indicating the  Italian province code
1 alphanumeric character indicating the area
1 alphanumeric character indicating the sub-area
2 digits indicating the footpath reference number
2 digits indicating the operator (meaning could depend on the Italian region)
2 alphanumeric characters indicating the possible importance and/or variant. Meaning depends on the Italian region the footpath resides on. In Liguria the last character indicates the footpath difficulty.
