This key is used to indicate the source of bicycle-related access restrictions.

This is especially important if the access restrictions do not result from the signs on the ground, but instead result from a law for example.

How to map

Add source:bicycle=* with a meaningful value to a way that has a bicycle=* tag.

Examples

In the German state of "Baden-Württemberg", cycling is prohibited on forest paths less than 2 m wide. This is stated in the State Forest Act (dt. "Landeswaldgesetz", abbreviated "LWaldG"). Since the restriction is usually not signposted on site and can only be verified on site with knowledge of the legal situation, a source reference using source:bicycle=* is helpful for other mappers. Trails that are restricted due to this law should be tagged with the corresponding width=* as well as source:bicycle=width; LWaldG in addition to bicycle=no.
