This key is for the subject of something, in other words, what topic or theme it is about. As this can be an open-ended definition, mappers have tagged this key on a variety of feature types. Pair it with subject:wikidata=*
to make it more easily understood by the renderers.
This key is also (still) mentioned on the page for tourism=museum
to be used for the kind of object or subject in exhibition. museum=*
is more precise, though and largely used. museum:type=*
is rarely used.
