Streetcars
Streetcar lines mapped so far are all in North Vancouver (except for the Olympic Line). For mapping Vancouver's old streetcar lines, note that towards the closure of the system a significant amount of route realignments were done (similar to Victoria's streetcars) while streetcar tracks were removed some time after end of service (on major roads days after).
| Name | Start Date | End Date | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Olympic Line | 2010-01-21 | 2010-03-21 | Fully mapped |

| Capilano Line | 1907-01-25 | 1947-04-24 | Stops not mapped |
Railways and Metros
A big issue so far for mapping railway lines would be the lack of mapping of railway tracks (e.g. double-track) and the modification of railway yards (especially around Waterfront and Pacific Central).

Roads
For Vancouver, in the early days the direction was placed at the end of the road name (i.e. Hastings Street East/West). But gradually, these directions were placed at the beginning (i.e. East/West Hastings Street). For simplicity, the latter is used on roads.
A major issue with mapping roads is the lack of dates on when roads were multi-laned or when road medians were added, as this prevents precise mapping of dates for segments of roads.
Resources
Many resources for features in Vancouver exist in either government websites or community-maintained sites. The most notable sites are given below.
Changing Vancouver
VanMap Viewer
An interactive map by the City of Vancouver featuring property details, such as Build Year, Property Address. The site also features the use of Goad's 1912 Fire Insurance Map of Vancouver as one of the data layers that can be overlain on a present-day map.
Vancouver Archives
Archives of the City of Vancouver. Features many historical maps, images, and documents on Vancouver from 1886 onwards.
UBC Library
Features maps and photographs of UBC throughout the years, as well as documents on public works and highway construction throughout B.C.
