PoliMappers/Lightning Mapping Milano
About
The "Facciamo Luce" Lightning Mapping is a 2025 pilot project jointly organised by PoliMappers from Politecnico di Milano (Italy), OpenStreetMap Italia, Wikimedia Italia and TomTom.
An adequate and effective lighting system makes the streets more welcoming even in the evening hours, promoting a safer urban environment for all.
In order to know the state of lighting in the city of Milan, the organisers aims to promote an OpenStreetMap-based collaborative mapping project of the city in order to know the most illuminated streets and routes, organising a series of meetings and field mapping events.
In order to track contributions and their quality, please remember to use the hashtag #FacciamoLuce in your changesets.

Kick-off - May 21st, 2025
From 16:30 CEST in Fassò Room, Building 4A of Politecnico di Milano
- 16:30 - Welcome and organisers' presentations with PoliMappers (Federica Gaspari), OpenStreetMap Italia (Anisa Kuci), Wikimedia Italia (Francesca Lissoni) and TomTom (Chiara Angiolini)
- 17:00 - Presentation of ‘Facciamo Luce', the pilot project dedicated to the mapping of street lamps in urban areas in the sorroundings of Politecnico di Milano and Città Studi campus.
- 17:30 - Presentation of the practical guidelines for mapping on the field street lamp features on OpenStreetMap
- 18:00 - Open invitation for joining the field mapathon in the last week of May!

The project is dedicated to the mapping of features of interest in the area of Città Studi - Milano, with a special focus on the blocks in the sorroundings of Politecnico di Milano.
