Proposal talk:Developer
Remove "financing" from description
Financing is to a large extent usually provided for by banks, investors etc. not by the developer itself.
SPV
For liability and other commercial reasons, large real estate projects are usually developed by or via companies set up specifically for each project (special purpose vehicles, or SPVs). Should the developer=* tag be used for these SPVs or rather for the holding company behind it?
- Great comment. Of course, as you said for liability reasons (and also for tax reasons), a real estate company can set up an SPV especially to develop the project, legally, on paper. However, the project (in most cases) stays associated with the main developer, as its name is more recognizable which will encourage people to invest in it. I believe the developer=* tag should preferably record the publicly known developer or parent company, rather than the legal SPV entity.--Ilias (talk) 00:09, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Not project management
To avoid misunderstandings, it should be made clear that this key does not refer to a real estate project management firm Kjon (talk) 19:59, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
wikidata tagging - Jofban
Why building:wikidata and not wikidata=*?
building:wikidata is useful only if POI and building were merged into one object which is a quite poor mapping

- Sure, I think I used it for emphasis (in constrast to developer:wikidata).
wikidata=*is fine too.
- developer:wikidata=* is used to disambiguate between developers which have the same name… ilias
