Usage of surface
There is key Surface that been given value "wood". I think this enough if used in with width? Opinions? --Kslotte 12:23, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Looks like surface=wood, why introduce another tag for it? width=* would be good, of course -- Zverik 14:31, 1 September 2010 (BST)
And if you *do* need a new tag, why not surface=duckboards rather than duckboards=yes? --EdLoach 14:34, 1 September 2010 (BST)
- Duckboards is a property of the surface, alas surface=wood should cover it. Combination of tags such as (shuddder) smoothness=* and wheelchair=* among other can make this clearer, though these tags goes for the usability of the path. IMO it is completely unnecessary to make an duckboard=yes-tag. Duckboards was one of the things I had in mind when suggesting the wood property to surfaces. --Skippern 18:34, 1 September 2010 (BST)
- For wheelchair users, cyclists, roller skaters, and possibly others, a wooden surface with densely laid boards perpendicular to travel direction, likely without any gaps, aka. surface=wood, is quite different from few wider logs (most of the time) with wide gaps inbetween. Duckboards could be made from anything between metal, wood and recycled plastic. Alv 18:43, 1 September 2010 (BST)
- So maybe surface=duckboard + surface:material=* is more fitting? --Skippern 19:43, 1 September 2010 (BST)

- I hate to say it, but surface=duckboard does not help, because there can be gaps or not. This is a case for a smoothness tag, I am afraid. Lulu-Ann
