Do nothing

Keep current situation with divergent and self-contradictory tagging.

Fix classification

some people claim that objects depicted here are not drinking fountains, some people claim that these are drinking fountains - so we have "unclear definition" problem (or maybe definition is clear and there are some loud voices?).

The problem is with deciding whether objects set up for drinking from them are water fountain or is "drinking fountain" term actually limited to fountain=bubbler and excludes fountain=drinking objects

There are three possibilities

Taps

note: if only devices emitting gentle upward water stream are drinking fountains then this section does not apply as tag conflict does not exist

This drinking fountains are qualifying also for man_made=water_tap resulting in tag conflict (proposed to be solved by not using man_made=drinking_fountain)

Alternative new tagging in such case is to start using tap=yes + man_made=drinking_fountain and deprecate uses of man_made=water_tap for such objects

tap=yes

This would be a new tag

(as of 2022-10-11 tap=yes is used rarely and mostly as primary tag on HOT mapping, see https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1mFu). Examples of typical use:

as of 2022-10-11 there is not even single object using this proposed tap=yes + man_made=drinking_fountain tagging ( https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1mFv to check current state)
