This is a proposal for waiting rooms. A waiting room is a room (enclosed space ) which is dedicated to waiting for something. You can typically find waiting rooms in train stations, at doctors, hospitals and ambulatories, close to receptions of any kind, public offices and other places where people are expected to wait.

Note: this tag is not intended for waiting areas, which are open spaces (i.e. not enclosed in a room, but often inside of a building nonetheless) dedicated to waiting, like they can be found for example on airports. There is a different proposal (amenity=waiting_area) for those.

How to map

As a feature

Add amenity=waiting_room to the object (either the area or a node at the position). Consider adding additional information like:

  • level=* the building level where the feature is
  • ref=* in case there is a reference number for the waiting room
  • name=* only if there is a specific name (e.g. to identify the room where there are different waiting rooms, with more than just a number). Do not use "waiting room" as value.

As a property

Add has_waiting_room=* to the object that has a waiting room.
