PyMapStitcher
PyMapStitcher
PyMapStitcher is a cross-platform Maps Downloader, map tile downloader and raster map stitching application for downloading, stitching and exporting large map and satellite image areas.
It is designed for GIS users, researchers, archaeologists, cartographers, remote-sensing workflows and users who need to combine individual map tiles into larger georeferenced raster images.
PyMapStitcher supports compatible XYZ tile servers and can export stitched map areas for further use in GIS and image-processing applications.
Features
Maps Downloader for compatible web map and XYZ tile services
Download map and satellite imagery
Select geographic areas

OpenStreetMap usage
PyMapStitcher can be used as a Maps Downloader with tile services based on the common XYZ tile scheme used by OpenStreetMap and many other web mapping platforms.
When using OpenStreetMap's public tile servers, users must follow the OpenStreetMap tile usage policy. The public OpenStreetMap tile infrastructure is primarily intended for normal interactive map use and should not be used for unrestricted bulk downloading.
For large-area downloads, users should use a tile provider that explicitly permits this type of access, operate their own tile server, or obtain OpenStreetMap data and render the required maps locally.
How to use PyMapStitcher
In general, users select a compatible map source, define the geographic area and desired map resolution, download the required tiles and stitch them into a larger raster map or georeferenced output file.
Use cases
PyMapStitcher can be used for:
offline map creation;
large raster map mosaics;
GeoTIFF creation;
GIS workflows;
archaeological surveys;
remote-sensing projects;
geographic research;
cartographic processing;
high-resolution map and satellite-image exports;
custom and self-hosted XYZ tile servers.
Tile sources
PyMapStitcher can work with compatible XYZ tile services.
Availability, licensing conditions, attribution requirements and download restrictions depend on the individual map or tile provider.
Users are responsible for complying with the terms of service, licences and usage policies of the selected tile source.
OpenStreetMap attribution
Maps containing OpenStreetMap data must provide appropriate attribution in accordance with the OpenStreetMap licence and attribution guidelines.
A commonly used attribution is:
© OpenStreetMap contributors
Additional attribution may be required when other map data, imagery or third-party tile providers are used.
