State of the Map 2021/volunteers
Do you want to participate at SotM 2021 as a volunteer? We need help in the following roles
Session Host
Session hosts announce the speakers before the talks and lead the Questions & Answers (Q&A) sessions after the talks. Session hosts read the speaker's bio and talk description and say 2-3 sentences about before the talk starts. During the talk the session hosts observes the questions section. After the talk the session hosts goes through the questions with the speaker in a video conference. = The video conference will be streamed publicly.
They have to have a good internet connectivity and video conference equipment as a webcam etc. We will make test sessions with the session hosts the days before SotM to ensure that the technical quality of the video conference.
Video Cutting
The video team does the streaming during the conference. And also the cutting of each talk. It is necessary to have some good experience with OBS and a good network connectivity.
Technical Assistant
The technical assistant helps the speaker and the session host with the video conference equipment. Before the talk starts the technical assistant ensures that the video conference equipment of the speaker and the session hosts works. It is necessary that the technical assistant has some experience with equipment as webcam etc. and also with software as BigBlueButton, OBS, etc.
BigBlueButton Assistant
Workshops and Panels are in BigBlueButton rooms. The BBB Assistant helps the speakers and ensures that they have all rights to perform their session. It is necessary that the BBB assistant has good experience with BigBlueButton.
Infodesk
We will have a virtual infodesk during SotM. Additionally we are online at
Translation Volunteers
Translation Volunteers will help making SotM more language accessible. They will translate Track 1 - Talks (pre-recorded videos) live during the conference, via the Mumble platfrom. Check out the translation volunteers wiki page.
