A taxi rank (or taxi stand, taxicab stand, etc.) is a place where taxis wait for passengers. Often found at airports, hotels, railway/bus/subway stations, large shopping centers or other places people congregate.
How to map
This tag locates the point where taxis wait, not the point where passengers wait.
Place a node 
at the location where taxis wait for passengers and add tag amenity=taxi.
Useful combination

| Some mappers have used this access control tag to identify taxi stands that provide motorcycle taxis. This is confusingly inconsistent with its use for access control, and as such is disliked by other mappers. Taxi stands with this tag combination should be changed to the tag above. | |
