A [W] cattle grid consists of a hole in the road surface which is covered with a series of bars that allow wheeled vehicles but not animals to cross. Also referred to as a cattle guard, vehicle pass, cattle stop or Texas gate.

How to map

Simply add the tag barrier=cattle_grid to the node where the cattle grid is located.

Useful combinations

An access=* tag might be useful. You could combine with cattle_grid=* to add more information. For example cattle_grid=electric for a cattle barrier that is not a typical grid but metal plating on the ground that give shocks to those touching it barefoot. A fake cattle grid made from closely spaced paint lines would be cattle_grid=virtual.
