Workplace or office of one who prepares customized meals for takeout, or provides prepared meals or supplies to a group at social gatherings. This tag can apply to businesses that market themselves as caterers per se, as well as other commercial facilities that only cook meals for delivery, such as ghost kitchens and non-retail traiteurs.

If a restaurant provides catering services in addition to normal dine-in or takeout service, amenity=restaurant, amenity=fast_food, etc. you can add catering=yes.

How to map

Set a node node or draw an area area representing the workplace (kitchen) and/or office and addcraft=caterer.

Similar tags

  • catering=* - Whether a restaurant, hotel etc. provides catering service as a complementary business.
  • takeaway=* - Whether the restaurant offers meals for pick-up that can be consumed elsewhere. The only value implies that people cannot eat in that establishment, and typically there is no storefront or outdoor seating; they can only order through deliveries. Note that usage of only value is considered problematic, please use different primary tag instead (e.g. craft=caterer for delivery-only of cooked food).[1][2]
  • delivery=* - Sets whether the restaurant or shop offers delivery service.
