Using this tag is discouraged – do not map roads that do not exist.
- If you want to indicate that there was a road in a particular place, but it no longer physically exists (e.g., after a natural disaster) use the prefix razed:*=*, e.g., razed:highway=residential,
- if the road is under construction, use highway=construction,
- if the road is closed to traffic, use access=no.
