A link-detached house, like a house=detached house, is a residential property that does not share any common walls with another property. However, they are linked to another house indirectly, typically by a joined garage.

Alternate tagging

This tagging follows the building=house + house=* tagging scheme. The more popular tagging scheme is to tag houses via top-level tags (e.g., building=detached). The tags of building=link-detached or building=link_detached are not widely used, however.

See this OSM tag history as a curve chart which shows the development of the usage numbers of the 3 tags in comparison.
