Tagged on buildings along with building=house to be more specific about the type of house.
For some tags, modifying the building=* value is preferred, for example using building=detached, building=semidetached_house, building=bungalow, etc. For other house types, such as house=terraced, house=back-to-back, house=* values are preferred. This can depend on the country, for example in Ireland, where house=semi-detached is greatly preferred to building=semidetached_house.
How to map
Add an area with building=house and then add a house=* value.
For houses that share a wall, such as a semi-detached house, the building should be mapped as separate areas for each house and they should share at least 2 nodes where they connect. (Sometimes known as a "party wall")
Values
Possible tagging mistakes
Be careful not to mix house=terraced and house=terrace up.
house=terraced is for mapping the separate houses in a terrace, and house=terrace is for if you map the whole terrace as one building.
This is discouraged however, as mapping the individual houses in a terrace is preferred.
