An Auto Wrecker is an area set aside for the long-term disposal or recycling of wrecked vehicles. In the USA, one is also called a junkyard, junk yard or salvage yard. Also known as a scrapyard in British English.

These places sometimes offer the opportunity to buy parts from the junked cars.

Given that OSM prefers British English language for tags, consider using industrial=scrap_yard.

In Garmin MapSource it's listed under 0x2f (Auto services)
