man made=beehive This is a hive. A beehive is built mostly of wood and is used for honey bees kipping (inbreeding, raising, rearing). The group of (cluster) beehives set in the area can be called an apiary (bee yard). The bee farm may have one or several apiaries (bee yards)

How to map

Generally honey bees are kipping in single hives, therefore man made=beehive we can mapping with single node node, but note that for apiaries with more than single beehive better apply landuse=apiary. One still may map individual beehives with man made=beehive nodes.

The area with cluster of hives may be be tagged also with information about capacity.

for example: landuse=apiary + capacity=230

Additional tags

  • operator=* - Company or beekeeper's name
  • seasonal=* - Beehives are located seasonally (migratory beekeeping)
  • capacity=* - Number of beehives
