|
An office for a consulting firm, providing expert professional advice to other companies or organisations.
It can be an office of a large consulting firm with several areas of expertise (KPMG, Accenture), or a smaller firm that provides consulting services in a specific sector (energy, industry, IT, environment). In both cases, the client of the consulting firm is another company or organisation, and not a physical person.

Do not use for places where any person can come and receive advice (legal advice, family planning, medium, etc). Such places are probably better described with tags in amenity=* or social_facility=* . |
How to map
Set a node at the center of the feature or draw an area
along its outline. Tag it with
office=consulting
and name=*
. Then add an additional consulting=*
tag to describe the area of expertise when appropriate.
Synonymous tags
There has been no formal proposal. Currently, there are many different tags used for the same purpose:
office=consulting |
company=consulting |
office=innovation_consulting |
office=consultant |
office=consultancy |
office=immigration_consultant |
office=business_consultant |
office=planning_consultant |
As the table above reveals, there are several problems:
- three different forms: consulting, consultant, consultancy. The most OSM-ish tag would be consultant, but it's much less used than consulting. Also, a lot of these firm actually have consulting as part of their name, so it makes
office=consulting
the currently preferred form until a formal proposal is written. - subclassification of the type of consulting firm as a brand new
office=*
tag, while it should go in an additionalconsulting=*
subtag instead.
